2/21/11 The Residuals

They don't call them aliens. They don't call them survivors. They are called residuals and they are humans or other aliens corrupted by Chaos that bleeds in from the Edge.

When the ship came out of the system’s warp gate window the alarms blared.

The nuero receptors of the helmsman compensated for the loud warnings that caused others to flinch.

“Do we approach, Captain?” the Helmsman asked.

“1/2 impulse,” the Captain said. “And can somebody shut off that damn alarm.”

The alarm silenced.

“Any sign of survivors?”

“Negative, sir.” A crewman scanned the display showing the 11 planets.

“My God, 45 million people lost.” The Captain watched the main display before him.

In the distance the light from the sun of the system fluctuated and ebbed.

“Where is the nearest settlement?”

“Antiaon 4. A mining facility.”

“Scan that facility. Make sure there are no residuals.” The Captain watched the crewman follow his command.

“Sir, scan shows there are approximately 293 thousand residuals in the facility.” The crewman brought up a map of the facility. “All levels are compromised.”

The facility image changed red and warnings glowed across the screen.

“Tactical, prepare the weapons to blow that facility to hell.”

“Aye, sir.”

2/16/11 The Darkness of the Edge

Alrighty, well it is 11:40pm and I had yet to write anything. I really couldn't come up with anything so I just asked questions and before I knew it the world was being consumed by the Darkness that had seeped from the Edge. Have I mentioned a pizza commercial was the inspiration for this?

Who knew?

Who knew what would happen when the stars went black and the darkness engulfed us all?

The darkness had crept from the Edge and swallowed millions upon millions of systems.

Billions upon billions of lives were lost.

Entire civilizations blinked out of existence.

Suns were consumed in the darkness and we ran.

We tried to escape it.

But you cannot escape the darkness of the Edge.

Mankind watched from its last refuge as the stars blinked out and the night sky was blank.

Darkness consumed all and the cries of trillion stars went silent.

I have been to the Edge and we cannot escape our fate.

1/2/11: The Edge

Pizza was the start of this idea. I don't even know if you can get that pizza anymore.

I have been to the Edge. I have seen the void between the galaxies and I have returned with a warning: We are doomed. As the galaxy expands the vastness of the void creeps in and spreads into the living parts of the galaxy. The void is alive. Its energy has vitality that envelopes and changes everything it touches into a dark and twisted mockery of order. What I saw there was nothing anyone should ever have to see. The Edge is chaos and order locked in a constant struggle to over take the other and in the end, we are doomed because chaos is constant and order is fragile. I have been to the Edge and I have seen the future. The Void and Chaos yearn to consume us in their energies. They want to give life to our darkest fears and turn us against each other. They are two creatures of destruction that will consume everyone, everything, and everywhere.
